Lieberman is now trailing Lamont by 41% to 51% in the latest Rassmussen poll. The three-way race of a deadheat is also very encouraging news for Lamont.
So my question is how Lieberman can salvage his political life. We all know from Lieberman's despicable and coward political hack who will do anything to get elected and suck up to the GOP.
It is very plausible, in my opinion, that Lieberman will simply pull out of the primary if his internal poll shows he will likely face a defeat. This may be the only chance to salvage his political life. Just imagine what kind of shockshave it will send to CT voters if Lamont wins in the primary. Voters do not like losers, I will not be surprised if Lamont pulls further ahead if Lieberman loses in the primary but declares to run as an independent.
Lamont's victory will indeed be very good news for democrats from another angle. GOP primary voters in Rhode Island will probably get very encouraged by this and not afraid to hand a stunning defeat to Lincoln Chafee, which will guarantee a win for democrats in Rhode Island. McCain, just like Lieberman, will further be weakened in his own party. His chance of getting the nomination will completely evaporate.
It is just so funny to read this old man-McCain's comment on his buddy's fate.
Sen. McCain on Lieberman
Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona and one of Joe Lieberman's closest friends in the Senate, quoted in the New York Times, called him "one of the most decent men I have ever known" and simply shook his head when asked about his friend's situation. "I hesitate to say anything nice about him, for fear that it would be used against him," Mr. McCain said. "And that's a terrible commentary on the state of politics and the political climate today."
McCain is MSN's favourite, but the truth is the so-called 'moderates' such as McCain and Lieberman are just a bunch of rats with no core beliefs, no core constituents. Their credentials only appear 'good' on paper, I can't imagine any of them gets elected to a higher office.
