From looking at the news, and at Daily Kos over the last several months, it seems like it. Whenever there is good news, we can say yes, that is good. But we, and that seems to be just about everyone, won't expand on that. We won't dare to talk about the possiblilty that the Democrats might take back both Houses this November. We have to limit ourselves to this particular election, or that election. We can show a list of elections, and what the polling trends are for those elections, but we don't want to draw any conclusions. We don't want to hope. Is it because of three previous elections where Democrats failed, or were possibly cheated?
I think it is time to let go of the emotional baggage of the last three elections, and look at what is really in front of us. We can look at the past so that we are not doomed to repeat it, but we don't want to live there. We have a lot of good news we can point to.
Ned Lamont is leading in polls against Joe Lieberman.
Bush's veto of the Stem Cell bill may hurt the GOP in November, and
Democrats are bringing in the cash as well as or better than the Republicans. And on the other side,
Bush's poll numbers are in the dumps, and all the war hype against Iran, Syria, North Korea or any other 'evil regime' or terrorist group doesn't seem to be helping him.
I see a lot of polling data, here and elsewhere, that is all going against the GOP and establishment politicians. I really do hope we win both Houses this Fall. And I think it is quite possible the voters will decide with us in large numbers this November. I think we do not give the Democratic Party enough credit. I think Dean's 50 State strategy has been genius. And I think it is working as well or better than we had dared hope.
It isn't September 12, 2001, and things really are different. We need to be deciding, every day, what will be different, and not abdicating those choices to the Republicans. That is why Joe must go, and that is why we must take both Houses, and eventually the White House. If we cannot envision our future, we cannot create it. We have to be willing to hope, and dream, and to turn those hopes and dreams into plans for the future. Otherwise the Republicans will win by default.
We may not win every race, and each loss will hurt. That is the risk we have to take. But we have to try, because sitting on the sidelines while the GOP makes things worse only means that the job will get harder the longer we wait.

See you at the polls in November!
