Diebold has another lawsuit to contend with. BlackBoxVoting.org has quietly mentioned that they have initiated libel actions against Diebold and Diebold employee Rob Pelletier:
This post, referring to BBV's separate bank account to support litigation, said,
It has so far supported the following actions: Public interest litigation defense for Stephen Heller, Bruce Funk, a public records lawsuit for ballot images, and libel actions against Diebold and Diebold employee Rob Pelletier.
Asked about this on another thread, Bev Harris responded,
Yes. Libel actions are proceeding on a variety of fronts.
It is not clear when the actions were initiated. The Diebold and Rob Pelletier libel cases are probably related to facts disclosed in the story The Diebold Persuasion Machine, which traced a disinformation website to Diebold employee Rob Pelletier who is the website administrator, and documented another Diebold staff member encouraging election officials to go to this website for information.
People have been urging BBV to sue for some time. It's high time for them to take action against some of the worst libelers. BBV's successful investigations and reports are widely used and appreciated. They have kept their focus on investigations despite ongoing "swiftboating" campaigns.
The questions BBV raises about Choicepoint and about the private "Quixote Group" serve as an alert for the need for transparent citizen oversight of all aspects of our elections.
So far the libel actions are described in this way:
It's a tennis match and we are currently awaiting the return of our latest serve.
