I've never felt the need before to post a diary here, but after some of what I've been reading these past few days on the Middle East I've finally decided I had to. The utter hatred, nastiness, and yelling on the current situation between Israel, Palestine, and Lebanon is too much to bear and is polluting many good diaries. So here's an idea: If you want to vent, if you want to scream, if you want to hate monger, do it here.
I don't care if which side is pissing you off. If you think that Israel's actions are the worst thing since Genghis Khan went pillaging, flame away. If you think that Hezbollah is a group of genocidal maniacs who deserve to burn in hell along with all their supporters, be my guest. If you just need to blow off a little steam, please do so here. But for god's sake, lets stop letting the anger corrupt any hope of having a discussion.
There are important, complex issues here that are in desperate need of serious debate. The legitimacy of targets that are not entirely civilian or military is one thing that can be handled in a calm manner without resorting to name calling and rhetoric. How to negotiate with a group opposed to your existence is another. How to get out of this mess without sounding like a bunch of three year olds is most important of all. I'll admit that I sometimes fail to follow my own rules. This is an emotional issue and everyone needs to blow their stacks once in a while. So please, again, if you feel like you just can't take it anymore, this is the place for you to go and yell a little so that the other boards can stay useful, so that the anger doesn't infect the other comment threads.
And hey, if it doesn't work, at least I tried to get us all off each others throats for an evening.
