endorses torture and who justifies wholesale killings of innocents in Lebanon. I can see now exactly how the administration means to exploit potential divisions within the Democratic left on questions related to Israel in order to push Bolton through. I wonder if Dershowitz's article was coordinated by the White House?

An addition. inclusiveheart below suggested that I should add an explanation of why I am posting this. Here it is from my comments below. I am posting this because it is news and because it illustrates the way in which the administration means to exploit the Israeli/Lebanese war for domestic political advantage by splitting the left. It is quite clear, judging from diaries here on KOS, that Israel is a potential wedge issue to be used by the right. An essential question is what can we do to stop that from happening. I would suggest that, as in this case of John Bolton and Dershowitz, the left should maintain its focus on core principles including just treatment of prisoners, supporting international institutions like the UN and being in support of the basic laws on the books that makes reducing casualties among innocent civilians of paramount importance in war time. Dershowitz's support for indiscriminate killing of civilians ought to be tied to Bolton and the administration.
