Since the Republicans like to speak as if they have God on their lips, I think it about time to see if their words match their actions.
Therefore I present to you, the Seven Deadly Sins, according to the family loving, values inspiring and selfless agenda of the Republican party (with pictures!)
Lust:
Depraved thought, unwholesome morality, desire for excitement, or need to be accepted or recognized by others.
Well, the first off at bat is none other than Bill O'Reilly, who while writting children's book about morality and good manners, was also soliciting his assasitant for some sexual favors and writting soft-porn novels on the side.
Glutony:
Thoughtless waste of everything, overindulgence, misplaced sensuality, uncleanliness, and maliciously depriving others.
One look at the Federal Budgest of the past five years and you can see the swine running amok. Whatever happend to the days when Republicans would chastise anyone with the "Golden Fleece" award. Not any longer. Let the pork roll and the taxpayer despair.
Avarice:
A strong desire to gain, especially in money or power. Disloyalty, deliberate betrayal, or treason, especially for personal gain or when compensated. Scavenging and hoarding of materials or objects.
From greedy CEOs to Big Oil and Big Pharma hitting us where it hurts the most; we know that the masters of corporate welfare are out to bleed American dry, one gallon or pill bottle at the time. And who is in charge of this monetary assault on America? None other than the Vice-President himself whose reported income in 2000 was $36Million most of them deferred Haliborton stock options. Oh, did I mention this was in 2000, before the War in Iraq and Haliburton getting all those no-bid contracts? Treason, especially for personal gain indeed!
Sloth:
Apathy, idleness, and wastefulness of time. Laziness is particularly condemned because others must work harder to make up for it. Cowardice or irresponsibility.
One word, Katrina. One man, George "Dubya" Bush. One huge disaster. While New Orleans drowned:
The Preznit played the guitar:
He didn't do his job and the people in the Gulf Coast payed the price.
Wrath:
[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_deadly_sins Inappropriate [unrighteous] feelings of hatred and anger. Denial of the truth to others or self. Impatience with the law, or seeking revenge outside of justice. Unnecessary vigilanteism. Wishing to do evil or harm to others. Disliking others for no good reason, such as their race or religion, leading to discrimination. Self-righteousness. Inappropriate [unrighteous] feelings of hatred and anger. Oh boy, this one is a long one and for good reason. From
1)the denizens of Blogostan wanting someone to off a liberal, any liberal,
2)to Republican congressmen dripping with hate against immigrants and
3)pseudo-Xristians bashing gays and "unbelievers",
wrath seems to poison everything the neocons and the Right touches. It is not that their are angry, is that they are blind in their rage and destructive in their hate. Add a good dose of fear and self-loathing and you have a recepie for a failed war, non-existance social policies and a failed goverment, more intereseted in attacking the messenger (such as the so-called Liberal Media) than dealing with the truth.
Envy:
spite and resentment of material objects, accomplishments, or character traits of others, or wishing others to fail or come to harm.
The modern equivalent? Swiftboating. Chickenhawks and gloryhounds who prop up a mock warrior and attack the real soldiers. They prefer a chimp in a flight suit to a decorated Marine. It merely shows that these blowhards don't have what it takes to lead a nation, never had and never will.
Pride:
Pride is known as the father of all sins. Pride is a desire to be more important or attractive to others, failing to give credit due to others, or excessive love of self (especially holding self out of proper position toward God). Dante's definition was "love of self perverted to hatred and contempt for one's neighbor".
And none show more Pride than the Preznit himself. He struts around like a jock after winning the state championship, but he is someone who hasn't won anything in his life, including his current job. Wears a flight suit or a busines suit as if he where a fighter ace or a captain of industry. Empty suits for an empty man. Six years of bark but no bite. In George we trust?
