Cross-posted from my campaign blog
This week, I learned that Oregon's largest union, Service Employees International Union (SEIU)/Oregon Public Employees Union (OPEU), endorsed my campaign for State Representative in House District 39.
I am incredibly pleased to have earned the endorsement of SEIU/OPEU. SEIU represents 45,000 hard-working state employees, healthcare professionals and non-profit employees. Their endorsement further solidifies our relationship with hard working citizens in Canby and Oregon City.
The SEIU endorsement is indicative of organized labor's interest in my campaign. I am going through the endorsement process with a number of other unions and have also already received the endorsements of the Oregon Education Association (OEA), which represents about 43,000 Oregon educators; the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers (IAHFIAW) Local 36; and the International Longshoremen Workers Union (ILWU) Local 5.
The SEIU endorsement means so much to me personally. Growing up in a union family and serving as Vice President and President of my local I know how hard SEIU members work, and their support truly bolsters our campaign.
If you are a member of an Oregon union, please speak with your PAC board or your business agent and tell them that you want them to help elect Mike Caudle in Oregon House District 39.
