I have an urgent request to all Kossacks.
Today is the last chance to add your name to the global petition for a ceasefire in the Middle East. The petition is being organized by ceasefirecampaign.org via MoveOn.org Civic Action.
Here's a snippet from the email I received this morning:
Over the last 4 days, 200,000 people from 148 countries have signed the ceasefire petition. At this rate, we could soon be the largest global online petition in history.
The pressure is working. The global outcry over this crisis has pushed the Ambassadors to the UN Security Council to work around the clock to achieve an immediate ceasefire.
The latest word is that the Council may be close to a final vote today or tomorrow, but we've been this close before and negotiations have fallen apart. We need more pressure now to close the deal.
If you want to help, please spend a minute at http://www.ceasefirecampaign.org/... and add your voice.
As I said in my last diary, I've read the rules and I apologise if this blatant campaign-pimping somehow breaks them. If so, please let me know in the comments and I will delete this.
I'm not going to debate the actions of Israel or Hezbollah. I'm not going to post photos to inflame or manipulate. I'm not going to make you read paragraphs of analysis and armchair opinion.
I'm also not going to patronize you all by explaining why you should sign, and I'm not going to apologize for diarying this again.
If you would like to, please leave a comment to say that you've added your voice. I don't know if it will make a difference, but I'll know that we tried.
