From now on, EVERYONE should question the Bush Administration's honesty whenever they try to play politics with terrorism because
THIS says it all.
While the British terror suspects were hatching their plot, the Bush administration was quietly seeking permission to divert $6 million that was supposed to be spent this year developing new homeland explosives detection technology.
Thankfully,
Congressional leaders rejected the idea, the latest in a series of steps by the Homeland Security Department that has left lawmakers and some of the department's own experts questioning the commitment to create better anti-terror technologies.
I guess it's true that some Rethugs are trying to at least put some distance between themselves and the Bushco or just abandoning the GOP camp altogether. <--(worth a read if you missed it last week)
Homeland Security's research arm, called the Sciences & Technology Directorate, is a "rudderless ship without a clear way to get back on course," Republican and Democratic senators on the Appropriations Committee declared recently.
"The committee is extremely disappointed with the manner in which S&T is being managed within the Department of Homeland Security," the panel wrote June 29 in a bipartisan report accompanying the agency's 2007 budget.
Really.
Go read the whole thing yourself. And I'd be VERY disappointed if the MSM allows this story to die.
DON'T LET THIS STORY DIE, MSM! IT'S YOUR DUTY AS AMERICANS TO QUESTION THIS ADMINISTRATION ABOUT WHY THEY TRIED TO CUT FUNDING ON SOMETHING SO VITAL - SOMETHING THAT COULD AFFECT THE LIVES OF YOU, YOUR CHILDREN, YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS ALIKE!!!
Please...for the LOVE OF GOD, be a responsible citizen and do your job!
[UPDATE AFTER A COUPLE OF COLD ONES...]
I originally got the story via Huffpost which I read as often as I do this site. But what I didn't notice earlier was a classic gem that exemplify the Bushco (In)Action at a time like this:
Crawford, TX (AHN) - President George W. Bush helps Republicans raise big money by headlining a barbecue at a ranch near his Crawford, Texas vacation home.
Kathy and Stan Hicky own the Broken Spoke Ranch, where the event took place. The fundraiser has been held annually since the start of Bush's presidency. The barbecue attracted 350 people, and raised $750,000 for the Republican National Committee.
Does anyone remember what a BIG DEAL it was to the MSM when Hillary once used a chopper to go get her hair done during the Clinton years? Every frickin' person in the media cried foul!
I don't know...but for me, this is a little more flagrant, don't ya think? Just a little more...
Simply amazing...or sad...or both.
If the MSM doesn't bombard Snow with questions pertaining to this issue on Monday, I think I might just quit my job and go back to school to earn a Journalism degree.
