Patrick Kennedy will NOT run for Senate, according to this news story from the AP. This is the latest of blows to Democratic hopes to retake the Senate. Chafee, for the moment anyways, now has to be considered the favorite. Brown, his only declared opponent, lags behind him in polls. Yes, Chafee's numbers are not so hot, but neither were Richard Burr's, Wayne Allard (39% in 2002 poll) or David Vitter's.
Damn. I was hoping for Kennedy. We need to beat Chafee. But his name, plus the apparent coolness to Brown just made this a much tougher race. Another example of counting chickens before they hatch I guess.

p.s. I looked for the story and did not see it. So please spare me the rants of the diary police. Let me know if it's already on, and I'll try and delete it. But I don't need a lecture. Thank you.
