From Barbara:I'm told by several people that there's a DSCC ad which debuted recently. Here's the description from a blogger:
"...the DSCC has labeled Latino immigrants as terrorists as they were placed between Iran's president and Kim Jon Il. It is not only sickening, it is also an insult to Latino voters who already feel under attack by Republicans"
I've been asked to take no DSCC money generated by the ad. Agreed. But I should disclose: this is an easily kept promise, since I've never received a penny from the DSCC. Ever.
Here in Texas, my condemnation of the Ku Klux Klan and its message of domestic terrorism fell on generally deaf ears, with some courageous and notable exceptions. My videos, speeches and op-eds supporting renewal of the Voting Rights Act were better received.
In truth, these are not courageous positions. No longer do politicians risk their physical safety by speaking out against overt racism. It's similiar to being opposed to perjury, lynching and terroristic threats aginst the judiciary. For the record: I am against perjury, lynching and terroristic threats against the judiciary. Isn't it interesting we must ask our candidates their position on such issues? I repeat my challenge to my opponent to renounce these, or resign.
