I received a mailing today that looks like a piece of campaign literature, reads like a piece of campaign literature, but was mailed under the guise of "official business".
I'm not certain how to import the pdf file here so I started a new blog so I could upload it there.
I doubt that Congressman Knollenberg is the only Republican Congressman to use this same piece. Often these types of mailings are generated by the caucus or the party and used by multiple campaigns.
I'd like to know if others have received this mailing from their Congressional Rep and if it was also labeled as being "prepared, published and mailed at taxpayer expense."
It would be particularly telling if it was sent out by others as campaign literature.
Also, do we have any election law experts out there that know if this violates any statute or regulation? I've started to look at the FEC regs but if anyone can circumvent that process for me I would certainly appreciate the help.
At a minimum, it illustrates that Knollenberg has poor judgment when it comes to spending taxpayer dollars.
UPDATE
I read the post about Republican's avoiding being tied to Bush and Cheney and went back to look at Knollenberg's mailing --- nowhere does it mention that he is a Republican. He must be cutting and running too.
