Say it isn't so.
I asked this question a few days ago and received no reply.
So I am asking it again. Is there a plan?
As a candidate for election to the U.S. House of Representatives in Hawaii's 2nd Congressional District, I need to know. As a candidate who is trying to tap into the netroots, I need to understand whether this is just about having interesting discussions and possibly raising much needed campaign funds...or is there more?
Or should I move on? (Pun intended) (Humor also intended)
So I ask again, is there a strategy for crashing the gates? Or is the netroots effort fuelled simply by the momentum of gathering indignation and the seizing of opportunity as it arises?
In an earlier Diary entitled HI-O2 - Candidate from the country - ready for the revolution I stated I was ready, willing and able to join the revolution. But what kind of revolution is it really?
I am a viable candidate for Congress, seeking to join forces with those of you who are serious about crashing the gates but I need to know. Is there form, substance and organization to this movement or not.
Again I ask: Is there a plan? Is there a strategy? Is there an end game? It is ok if there is not; I just need to know so that I may plan accordingly and so that my expectations are realistic.
If you want to know more about who I am, you may visit my website at http://www.garyhooser.com or better yet to get a clear view of my values read a piece I wrote a few weeks ago A candidates view of Bush and his preference for firmness.
I also believe in symbols: If you visit my office at the State Capitol in Hawaii, you will see two that I hold close and am surrounded by almost every day. One is a framed poster of "The man and the tank at Tiananmen Square". The other is a small granite stone inscribed with the words "never never quit."
Can anyone answer my question? Is there a plan?
***************
Gary Hooser is a second-term State Senator (Kaua'i-Ni'ihau) from Hawaii who is running for the seat vacated by Congressman Ed Case. Case is running against Senator Daniel Akaka. Hooser's legislative record in Hawaii is one that has been described in the media as solidly Democratic. He has been strong in his support of education, the protection of civil liberties and increased funding for human services. He has been a strong advocate for agriculture and environmental protection. He supported resolutions in opposition to the war in Iraq prior to the start of the war. He is known for his commitment to the needs of rural communities. In his last race, he won--by a landslide--against a heavily backed, popular Republican opponent who had the active support of Hawaii's Republican governor. Known by his colleagues as a pragmatic idealist, Senator Hooser has proven his ability to craft and successfully guide meaningful legislation through the convoluted labyrinth of government.
