Yes that's right you cowards, when we go after someone like Joe Lieberman and support Ned Lamont, we are fighting for you. Not that most of you are worth it, not that we like you all that much, but the Democratic Party is the only party we've got. And by "we," I mean sane people.
If you think that we got all activist on Joe Lieberman's ass because of his support for the Iraq war, you need to stop listening to people like Davis S Broder, Joe Klein and the rest of the Washington Punditburo hacks and get out more. There are plenty of Democrats whose position on the war fills us with disgust, but they didn't draw our fire. We're used to cowardice and ass-kissing from congressional Democrats.
We got all activist on Joe Lieberman's ass because he's spent the last five years - six if you count the 2000 campaign and recount, and I do - making life easier for Republicans by undercutting any and every meaningful response to the Rove-Cheney-Bush agenda. See, we don't like Joe Lieberman because he is bad for Democrats (that'd be you).
We actually want you to be able to stop kissing Bush ass and start kicking some. We want you to be in the majority. Now, I know some of you have been so shell-shocked by Republican misrule that you can't remember what it was like when you could actually pass legislation that was in the interests of anyone but the wealthiest elites or when you could order some Administration lackey in for an on-camera flogging, but if you think way, way back, you might remember it was fun. You had P-O-W-E-R. Corporate donors returned your phone calls. Maybe next time you have both houses of Congress and the White House you'll get healthcare passed.
Joe had his day. He spent the past six years triangulating against other Democrats -- again, that'd be you -- because he thought it was the best way to save his sorry ass in a Republican era that he thought would go on forever (thanks in part to his help). That was his gamble. Turns out he was wrong and the Democratic voters of his state got fed up with him for dissing Democrats (A reminder: That'd be you). Tough luck.
It's time you threw Joe Lieberman off the sled and gave your full support to Ned Lamont. Hold your nose if you have to, I don't care. God knows a lot of us have had to hold our noses when voting for some of your sorry asses.
Because if you don't support Ned Lamont, we are coming for you next. That goes double if he loses, and believe me, we are taking names.
