Here's a way for Democrats to get a little extra push across the finish line in November. Its also a way to help all the everyday working people who have been forced to use their credit cards to buy gasoline.
Let's bring back the tax deduction for credit card and installment loan interest.
Many of you probably don't remember it, but it used to exist. I believe Reagan got rid of it. Not everyone owns a home and can take advantage of the mortgage interest deduction. We could pay for the credit card interest deduction by scaling back some of the cuts for those who earn over $300,000, but even those people will benefit.
I would think the credit card companies and auto manufacturers would support this also. This proposal compliments an increase in the minimum wage. Wouldn't this be a great way for Democrats to take the lead in support of everyday people?
