William Kristol is a political contributor for the FOX News Channel (FNC) and serves as a regular contributor to Special Report with Brit Hume, the highest rated political program on cable television.
I was so tired putting this diary together last night that I forgot to include that information about William Kristol being a contributor to FNC. So I had to put it in as an update. The source for that is here at[FNC http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,2120,00.html]
Rupert Murdoch became an American citizen in 1985. He became an American citizen for one reason. That one reason wasn't because he loved America either. He wanted to own U.S media. U.S. law prohibits foreign ownership of television stations and he wanted to buy into our media market.
Rupert Murdoch owns 9 satellite companies, 100 cable channels, 175 newspapers, 40 television stations, and 1 movie studio. The U.S television network he owns reaches approximately 280 million people. His Asian satellite networks reaches approximately 300 million people. The cable channels he owns reach 300 million people. The magazines and news print reaches approximately 28 million people. The total audience around the globe is around 4.7 billion people, which is about ¾ the population of the world.
That might not concern some people, but when it involves an ideology being pushed it should concern people deeply. He loved Ronald Regan. Rupert Murdoch is a far right wing republican. Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation owns the
Weekly Standard, and it does little to try to hide the fact that it is a neo-conservative journal. It was founded in 1995. Its current editor and founder is William Kristol. You should know
William Kristol as the founder for the group Project for A New American Century. (

Now the focus on my diary entry here tonight is going to be Rupert Murdoch and the Fox News Channel. That isn't because I think the rest he owns on that list are not important because they are important. I want to focus on Fox News Channel because it is the number one rated News Channel in America. That gives to me a reason as to what is wrong with our society here in the country and why so many people either don't know what is going on, or just know the lies they've been told. Do not think that I am not concerned about the other stations like CNN or MSNBC either simply because I am focused on Rupert Murdoch and Fox News in this particular diary entry.
It is transparent to me now the propaganda the FNC (Fox News Channel) is purposely putting out and it probably is transparent to many here at Daily KOS. This is something we have to conquer. We must get people to turn off this mendacious channel that masquerades as a news channel. They market themselves as fair and balanced news. That just humors me. I don't even consider them a legitimate news channel. I will include a poll with this diary because I want to know how many here watch television news, and which channel you prefer. I am curious to see how many honestly answer that they watch FNC themselves.
Now I don't watch Fox News. The sections I have seen from Fox News have come from the research I've done concerning Rupert Murdoch. In the research I watched a documentary that I will certainly discuss here at one point and it included lots of Fox News clips. I also went in search of my own Fox News clips, and I will share them throughout this entry when it is crucial.
In my research I found that Fox News loves to cut people off by interrupting them, drowning them out with background noise, cutting off microphones, having the camera man zoom in or out to avoid certain stuff they don't want to have viewed, and they love to use intimidation at times too. Now I am going to provide a video collage for you to view that points out just what I mean and it proves that this technique is a favored one on FNC. Collage
This past June Fox News had an ACLU member on for an interview. When I watched the clip I was amazed how they pulled the plug on him. You should have noticed while watching that the hand that went into the viewers' screen that motioned it was going to be cut. Not to mention there was not the usual thanks for your time or anything. Straight to a commercial!
Now one in particular that I found the most repulsive on the FNC was Bill O'Reilly. Yet as I watched him in the clips I began to understand completely what is wrong with America. He isn't the only one on that FNC who is repulsive on FNC but he is number one. The technique they use and the fact they get away with it disturbs me! Now everyone by now here at Daily KOS should know I am not a liberal. I have another collage that illustrates just how loathsome Bill O'Reilly is, and it also shows how unfair and unbalanced FNC really is.
John Gibson is another one who I find very dangerous being on television. This man is obviously pushing an agenda for Rupert Murdoch and his neo-conservatism. He thinks the constitution keeps getting in our way. This news clips shows what it is he wants in America. I wonder how times this idea that the "constitution keeps getting in the way" has been repeated on FNC in hopes to get the American people conditioned to think the same way? The daily memo from John Moody this day must have said something like this, "The constitution is going to get George W. Bush in big trouble and as much as we love the man it will hurt us if he gets in trouble over that piece of paper. Today we should focus on the fact that people should be VERY AFRAID and that the CONSTITUTION interferes with Bush protecting us."
John Gibson in this segment again pushes an agenda. He reports that Hezbollah could have the WMD we haven't found in Iraq from Saddam. He reports it with NO EVIDENCE to support an idea like that even. The memo this day must have said something about pushing the Hezbollah/WMD connection. Again I must ask, how many times was this repeated in hopes that the American people would be conditioned to think the same? It is the same fucking shit they did with Iraq and the Alqaeda links from what I've watched in clips!
There was a survey done back in October of 2003. It was the PIPA/Knowledge Network Polls, the people's survey. They asked viewers that watched PBS-NPR and Fox News Channel three questions. The percentages astounded me. The poll and results are below.
1.Has U.S found WMD in Iraq?
Fox viewers that said yes- 33%
PBS/NPR viewers that said yes- 11%
2. Does world opinion favor the U.S invasion of Iraq?
Fox viewers that said yes- 35%
PBS/NPR viewers that said yes- 5%
3. Has the U.S found links between Iraq and Alqaeda?
Fox viewers that said yes- 67%
PBS/NPR viewers that said yes- 16%
I have read a great number of diaries here at Daily KOS and lots of them have been great to read, but very depressing at the same time. I've read many people asking why aren't we the people on the streets? I've read a lot of hopelessness here at Daily KOS too. I have written my own diaries of hopelessness and I've written diaries asking why people haven't done anything too.
My fellow Americans I strongly believe that FNC is probably our best answer. I have said many times it is fear that keeps people from taking action. This collage shows that it is fear but it is propaganda being put out by FNC. I truly hope you are watching this video clips I've included throughout this diary. They will help you understand the danger we face with FNC and Rupert Murdoch owning such a large portion of our media. The media consolidation that has formed needs to be broken up immediately. The propaganda from FNC alone is absolutely unbelievable to me!!
I mean I found a clip of Fox Friends where they talked about the movie Passion of Christ and the entire show was nothing but propaganda!!! I mean how do they get away with it? The only answer I can come up with is the people are watching it and they have no clue they are being conditioned by it. Therefore it is the job of those of us who do not watch the FNC to expose them immediately! Boycott them immediately!!!
I worry about our future here in America every second of every day. What did our founding fathers vision of a free press? I have agree with Robert McChesny from the documentary I watched called Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism. I recommend you watch it yourself if you have not. Outfoxed
It is late and I just can't write any more at this time even though I have so much more to say. I'll be doing a future diary on CNN/ MSNBC and other news sources too. Things have to be investigated, exposed, and stopped when considered necessary. Thanks for listening now I hope you help with the solutions.
If you could put in the comment field who it is you watch on the news channel you chose I would appreciate it.
