I think the key to winning in Novemeber is to talk about the decade. We're more than halfway through now and the Zeroes are the Republicans. Dems had the 60s, 40s, 30s, teens, and the nineties have gelled as Democratic, as Clinton represents the 90s like Reagan--80s, Ike-- 50s, FDR --30s. George W is the face of the Zeroes. And oh lets look to see how the Zeroes have been so far.
The decade kicks off with Bush v. Gore--losing candidate enters office in a constitutional crisis lawsuit. 2001, terror comes home on 9/11. We see our defense vulnerability as we lose thousands in our financial and political capitals. 2002, off-year elections make the both houses of Congress more Republican. Already in Afghanistan, Bush pushes a vote on authorization to attack Iraq. 2003, the Bush administration invades Iraq. 2004, Bush wins again. 2005, Katrina. And now here we are 2006.
The first decade of the 21st century-- Hows it been? Hows that Republican leadership working out? The government has been acting like an infant in the century's infancy. The worse we treat this infant the worse we'll pay in the teens, as many a parent has learned. So I move that we declare the decade a do-over.
I think the decade is just the right amount of time to talk about. It coincides with the Bush years which are thankfully ending. Lets help them leave in November. They were in such a rush to get into the Whitehouse, maybe we can evict them early. ITs the last chance we'll get to vote in George W's term in office. He'll stop saying "my government" in 2 years, and it will be somebody elses administration. This will happen. So its the last opportunity for voters to consider the record of the Bush administration, and tell the Republicans how theyve stewarded the Zeroes. Lets help them start packing for the even bigger move in 2008.
2006 is our year unless people get fear-induced amnesia. SO lets keep reminding people that we are in the first decade of the century. Ground people in chronological reality, so that "scare em and win" tactics lose. 2006 is the beginning. We've even got great candidates this time. Unity and motivation seem high too. 2006 is our year.
