A Kos story
http://www.dailykos.com/... today detailed Lieberman's campaigning with Republicans. Everybody is screaming for the Dem PTB to kick him off his committee assignments. I think there's a better way: focus on winning this election, not getting revenge on Lieberman. By playing hardball on the ELECTORAL field we'll win in CT and establish the netroots as an independent power to be reckoned with in Dem political calculations.
The issue is not Senate committees. It's the election. Voters don't give a shit about what committees he's on, and attacking him with a legally dubious weapon is as likely to win him more sympathy as a victim as it is to take votes away from him.
Let's get over the committee distraction and take a page out of Rove's book for a change. What matters is winning this election. According to Joe's own analysis, he needs a big republican vote in a big republican turnout. There's already a GOP candidate in the race who has no chance.
The way to prevent Lieberman from getting the GOP votes he needs is to fund campaign ads for his real Republican opponent attacking Lieberman as a Democrat trying to scam good Republicans into supporting him. There's plenty of recent video showing Joe piously swearing to his Dem loyalty forever. The ads don't have to convince anybody. They just have to demotivate Rep voters. That's an easy win.
MoveOn, Netroots, PFAW, and all the rest, have a rare opportunity here to change Dem politics and assure a Dem Senate next year. We probably don't need the ads until October or so because that's when negative attacks work. But somebody, probably outside the Dem party, has to either seize this opportunity or resign ourselves to rule by a dull Dem minority for the foreseeable future.
