Jim Webb should give no quarter on the Allen apology, like this:
"George Allen made a fine display of character yesterday, marking a significant change in the tone of his campaign.
We welcome that change.
I am proud of my staff of talented patriots, including the courageous Mr. Sidhart. Those who understimate this group do so at their peril, because our commitment to a better Virginia and a better country is unimpeachable...
But despite his apology, we believe that George Allen still has a lot to learn about this country before he deserves a single person's vote.
I look forward to continuing to teach the good Senator about the real people of United States, whom I've been lucky enough to serve for most of my life. I will also explain how I am better able to attend to the needs of real Virginians, who I know are ready to change our state for the better."
