"
Lakehead University in northern Ontario set up www.yaleshmale.com in a bid to attract potential new students. It shows a picture of Yale graduate Mr Bush with the caption: "Graduating from an Ivy League university doesn't necessarily mean you're smart."
www.yaleshmale.com was set up by te University to attract new students. The site asks if you agree and if you click "Yes", it takes you in and not only offers up some pretty good quotes but also let's you enter a chance to "Win Prizes" in the YaleScmale contest. Hmmmmmm? Kinda weird to me but, the quotes are worthy:
There are universities and then there are
universities. So let's not beat around the bush.
Lakehead is different.
We believe the person you become after you
graduate is even more important than the
person you were when you enrolled.
Our professors and staff will prepare you to
meet the challenges of your chosen profession.
Although most of the responses (95% according to the university) have been positive; some have found it "repugnant." Frederick Gilbert,
Lakehead University president and vice-chancellor said "
It was literally a tongue-in-cheek way of getting attention." Why should people be upset with someone, from Yale, who farts in front of people, is known to be a jokster, give people stupid pet names and make incomprehensible statements like "Rarely is the questioned asked: Is our children learning?" --Florence, S.C., Jan. 11, 2000--?????? Let alone, promote "Intelligent Design" despite court rulings, Thwart Science on every level, and accuses anyone who disagrees as "misguided", "confused" or a Anti-American? That I find repugnant. According to BBC,"The university would not retract its campaign, however, although it would try to respond to individual concerns..." Good for them.
