I did do a search, but I'm no expert, so I apologize if you've seen this before. It was so egregious I felt compelled to mention it.
In the Sept. 4 issue, Newsweek talks about who is to blame for the state of New Orleans, and they come up with this gem: "When San Francisco was destaroyed by an earthquake in 1906, the raw, capitalist spirit of the place was regenerative. New Orleanians have traditionally been more fatalistic and class-bound.
That's right. If only New Orleans was less fatalistic, it could rebuild its infrustructure, from the electric grid to the sewage system to the Interstates. What's that? None of that existed in 1906? Well, fuck, don't bother me with that sort of thing. Clearly even those sissies in San Francisco managed to pulll themselves up by their bootstraps. As an added bonus, BTW, Newsweek made sure to have pictures of school buses in the debris. Sean Hannity will be thrilled.
