This morning's New Haven Register (registration required) reports that actor and human rights activist Danny Glover will be in Connecticut today to endorse both Ned Lamont and John DeStefano. Glover is internationally recognized for his work on behalf of minorities, global human rights and AIDS. In 1998, Glover was appointed ambassador to the United Nations Development Program. More after the fold.
Glover will be spending the early part of the day in scheduled appearances in New Haven with DeStefano.
"Later that day, Glover will accompany Lamont to the Litchfield Jazz Festival at 4 p.m., to be held at the Goshen Fairgrounds in Goshen. At 6 p.m., Glover and Lamont will be at the West Indian Independence Anniversary Ball at the Hartford Hilton. Then at 8 p.m. they will attend the Gospel Fest."
Have not seen this reported on the official Ned Lamont blog or in other CT newspapers. I imagine that Tim Tagaris is going to be exhausted the next few days trying to keep up with the GOTV effort and continuing to post for the blog. Glover has known DeStefano, it seems, from an earlier coalition between the two in New Haven working to bring community and police together. His willingness to stump for Lamont is a real plus for Ned's campaign.
In other morning news, the Stamford Advocate has a fun piece about the history of "The Kiss" float. Go Ned!
