Recently I figured out how to combine astral projection with time travel, and after going back in time to see who stole the stash out of my coat pocket in high school (I knew it was him) it was off to December 2006.
The good news is we got our man Lamont elected, but in Montana Conrad Burns won with 51% of the vote, as did Mike Dewine of Ohio (more like 50.20%), Lincoln Chaffee in Rhode Island (a race that garnered one post on KOS for every 350 on one in Conneticut), Bill Frist and Jim Talent in Missouri.
Democratic Party insiders are pointing the finger at chairman Dean, who is in turn pointing the finger at the mainstream press and the blogsphere for failing to trully embrace his 50 state strategy...on most of the notorious left-leaning blogs, election fraud is the topic du-jour.
Much like in Vietnam, the domino theory championed by most amateur political strategists in cyber-space never went down like they thought it would, and Ned Lamont's defeat of Joe Lieberman in the state primary was mostly drowned out in the mainstream press by stories like:
-Clay Akien announces he's bi-sexual, debate is furious over whether he's lying about being attracted to women.
-A blonde 12 year old girl from Texas drops her beer in a well then goes in after it - the beer part is removed and Sean Hannity sets up shop in her hometown.
-Kobe Bryant scores 93 points in a single game, but the Lakers lose to Dallas 111-103.
-Nintendo's new game system release date provokes rioting in malls across the midwest when demand cannot be met prior to Christmas.
-Pat Robertson dies at the age of 132.
Seems that the networks pretty much ignored Lamont's victory, and after that, the blogsphere went on a rampage over media bias rather than focus on the House and Senate seats in play.
Joe Wilson and his wife hold a press conference regarding their lawsuit against Dick Cheney and his minions, to which the White House releases a statement in the form of Tony Snow making fun of Hellen Thomas, and that gets KOS and other sites all riled up for a couple of weeks.
Lieberman decides to run as an independant, and the front page of KOS and other MEGA-BLOGS rehash everything being said present day, only with different Democrat targets lined up to smear over their pledged support of Liberman, with some changing sides midstream...and here's the kicker:
Republicans shine the spotlight on Democratic Party infighting and clown on it nonstop for weeks leading up to the election, to which the Democrats respond with half saying one thing and other other half another, pretty much burying the slate of issues we were right about.
We came very close, but in the end it was said to be the Democratic Party's reluctance to fully buy into Dean's 50 state strategy that really blew it. We focused too much attention on one or two things, defeated Lieberman, yet failed to pick up 51 seats in the Senate.
...worst part about it (for me), is that a flurry of indictments come down on many GOP congressmen a month after election day. The blogsphere cries foul over the timing...
