Joe Lieberman states that he is mounting his independent bid for the sake of the Democratic party. The nerve. The party he just quit. Who is he to speak for or to specify what's in the best for the Democratic party? This is beyond arrogance.
Democratic party leaders Harry Reid, Chris Dodd, Chuck Schumer, Evan Bayh, John Edwards, Barak Obama, Frank Lautenberg, Rahm Emanuel, Barbara Boxer, the DSCC, the DCCC, Hillary Clinton, have all throw their support behind Lamont. But, I think they have one more thing to do. They have to make it clear to Joe and to the voters of Connecticut, that it is they who speak for Democrats and they who have the best interests of our party at heart, and not Holy Joe.
Joe Lieberman does not have a clue about what's best for Democrats. He can run if he wants but he no longer speaks for us.
To drive this point home Democratic party leaders have to stop shilly-shallying and remove him from all his committee assignments. I agree that it may be too soon to take these steps but if by the weekend after his predicament has sunk in, he still does not realize that his political life is over, and he does not have the class, the decency, to drop out of the race, then they've got to start playing hardball. This is too serious to fuck around with. After all, we've got to prepare ourselves to deal with the Republican slime machine.
