I have been unsuccessfully searching for an email address for Thomas Kean, the co-chairman of the 9/11 Commission. I have a few words for Mr. Kean and since I am unable to communicate directly with the man, I am writing a public letter.
To quote a Keith Olbermann quote on a McCarthy era quote: "Sir, have you no shame?" Have you sold out by placing your party, your son's party, over the short and long term welfare of the nation? Or are you just foolish enough to think this docudrama is pure entertainment that will revive interest in the Commission's recommendations?
As co-chair of the 9/11 Commission you wisely realized that assessing blame would overwhelm any attempts at reform. Why have you abandoned that philososphy by giving your smiling imprimateur to a biased, blame filled, fictionalized remake of a event whose memory is now tainted?
I have a hard time believing you are stupid. So I must conclude you are part of the attempt to bring the "blame Clinton" mentality to the forefront of our 9/11 remembrance. That is injecting political poison into the body politic. And no good will come of it. Your 9/11 recommendations will not only take a back seat, you'll be lucky if they're in the trunk.
