Abu Ghraib business card image comes what I think is perhaps the most ironic, and world turned upside down statement I have yet heard. If it wasn't real, I'd say it was a line from Catch-22.
The Story is about a man who claims to be (and indeed appears to be) the man in the infamous, iconic Abu Ghraib torture image.
The White House was asked to verify's the man's identity for the piece. Their reply?
A spokesman for the American military in Iraq declined to comment, saying it would violate the Geneva Conventions to disclose the identity of prisoners in any of the Abu Ghraib photographs, just as it would to discuss the reasons behind Mr. Qaissi's detention.
Identifying prisoners is out I guess, although torture, humiliation, and murder are just fine apparently.
Did the New York Times even realize the sad irony of the statement?
