Every day until the election I'm making a contribution to a new candidate, announcing it here on Daily Kos, and encouraging you to join me.
One of the nice things about knowing I'm going to be contributing each and every day is that when I get a request I don't have to ask myself, "Self, do I want to give today?" It's turned the question of "whether" to one of "when" - or "who next". Yesterday I got a request from Ron Klein, who is polling very close (38 to 42) to his 13-term incumbent opponent. Between Katherine Harris and Brother Jeb, Florida's an interesting place to watch - and I like best to watch it from far, far, away. If 2006 turns out the way I'm hoping, a lot is going to change in Florida and across the country. I think Ron can win this, so I'm helping him out; I hope you will, too!
Here's Ron's website.
Here's my ActBlue page.
An excerpt from Ron's message and my donation history are below the fold.
Can you feel the momentum? My opponent, Clay Shaw and the rubberstamp Congress have rolled over for the Bush administration's failed policies for too long. In Washington, I will call for Donald Rumsfeld's dismissal, demand accountability in Iraq and do what is right for our veterans. With your help we will send a message to Washington: the days of the rubberstamp, do-nothing Congress are over!
For over a year we have been busy putting together a grassroots campaign to communicate daily with the voters of the district. Our supporters have been busy going door to door, phone banking, sending letters, and organizing meet and greets. As we go all over the district meeting voters and hearing their concerns, one message is coming through loud and clear: people are ready for change and they want leaders who will stand up for the issues that matter to all of us.
