If Jack Carter doesn't grab this one, then he deserves to lose. Herr Fuehrer W has asked for carte blanch to do whatever he (or Dick) thinks is required. In particular, they want to re-interpret the Geneva convention, as has been written about ad nauseum here. (RedWind's diary is here:

Most Americans, red, blue, and every other color, will agree that the USA doesn't stand for torture. Most Americans, when pressed, will also agree that the checks in balances written in the constitution require the Congress to hold the executive branch accountable. When a senator goes on record that torture is acceptable, and irresponsibly allows the executive branch to run amok over, not just the constitution, but American values, then THAT SENATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
Sarah Carter (http://www.dailykos.com/...) reports that John Ensign has a voting record that is 96% in accord with Bush. That's too high, but this latest example is over the top.
Come on, Jack, let's get a move on. Ensign's got to go.
