Wikipedia (English Version) serves as an invaluable free online reference site for millions of users throughout the globe. It is heavily linked to, often as a definitive starting point for information about any subject, including politicians. Even with well over a million articles, about 100 out of approximately 435 Democratic congressional candidates for the 2006 elections lack even the most basic Wikipedia entry. Sadly, this is about as many the Republican missing entries. This is something that can be easily fixed by anyone with a Internet connection, a browser and a little biographical information about a candidate. Will you spend a little time creating an entry for one of the missing 100?
More, including the list of missing candidate entries with direct Wikipedia links to get you started below the fold.
The excellent
electoral-vote.com, which is providing daily updates of the 2006 Senate race based on available polling, identified a
list of US Congressional Candidates that do not yet have Wikipedia entries. I parsed through the
Full House Candidate List, pulling out just the Democrats and checked to see which of those had missing pages. Go to work, but keep in mind that Wikipedia entries should be neutral, factual and written in the proper
tone. A complete entry may look something like
Nancy Pelosi's entry, but a more modest entry may simply say a few words like
Dan Seals' current entry. Also note, some names may conflict with other persons of the same name. You may have to add
politician to the title or find some other way to differentiate the article from another.
