Seems the Budapest riot has not caused much discussion here this morning. I am wondering if there are others who have information about what is happening and want to discuss the implications for Hungary. All politics are local, and what transpires as a result of this government's actions will mark Hungary and the younger governments of Europe for years.
There is at least one Kossack reporting from the ground - it's my 16-year-old son who is an exchange student in Budapest this year. I won't quote without his permission, but he tells me the only evidence of turmoil today (besides the wrecked broadcast office, in Budapest itself, is a blessed absence of tourists in the inner city. I have searched all the English-language papers for the story and it appears somewhat overblown in some cases. It appears there was one riot, not many, in one square, that occurred hours after the peaceful protest of 10,000 over the PM's release of secret tapes admitting lies in the runup to the last election. Tensions are high as there are only 2 weeks left in the current election cycle.
If you need background, here's a decent story in the Guardian:

The PM has threatened police crackdown tonight if the rioters return - last night's police action appeared defensive and unprepared.
Hungarians, what's your take on the situation, and it's potential effect on the election? Are either the drastic economic measures on the table, or the revelation of deceptions going to bring down this government?
