When the news gets too disturbing, it's hard to talk about current events in a dispassionate way. The Constitution is in flames, the Treasury door is wide open to looting and the
pilot of our nation has locked himself in the
cockpit and seems to be ignoring the control tower.
When reality bites, I reach for fantasy.
As a remedy to my bush-fatigue, I will imagine that the bush administration is a baseball team...
Limping into September, the Bushco Bashers are still in first place, but they have been on a losing streak. Despite numerous reports of steroid use by all team members, including the team statistician (helping him get BIG results), there has been no investigation.
The organization is under growing public pressure. There are rumors of game-fixing, gambling on their own games, and intimidating or bribing reporters when their secrecy is threatened.
Even loyal fans are calling for a change in management.
Fans have less leverage over team decisions since corporate sponsorship accounts for most team income. There is still some fan loyalty, some of it dates back through three and four generations. The Bashers' relationship with FOX Sports does a credible job of promoting the organization and its merchandise. The diehards don't want to ask any questions.
What the loyal fans don't realize is that the Bushco brand will become associated inextricably with the corruption that currently plagues it.
