First we have to endure a zillion retard pundits who want to know "What's the Democrats' plan for Iraq?". And now the Dems want to focus on the economy, which has been growing so strongly that the Fed, until recently, has had to ratchet up interest rates. WTF?
Maybe somebody should note that this is a mid-term, and so a Congressional, election...
Maybe this point is too obvious... but Congress does not execute the law. That would be the purview of the... um... Executive branch. And we are, in fact,
executing a "war on terror" (perhaps more-correctly spelled "terrrr").
So, what does (or should) Congress do? Maybe provide some
OVERSIGHT!!
Maybe Herr Rumsfeld can say "My My!" to Senator Hillary once, and maybe he can say it again the next month, but eventually he'll have to actually
say something, or risk being shown to the world as the clown that he most likely is. But all of this is a pipe-dream if they don't even have the hearings! There's a
war on, dammit! Aren't there supposed to be hearings where the Executives tell the Congress (and the people) exactly how things are going?
What's happened to the Gulf Coast after Katrina? What happened to the money? Shouldn't there be some oversight? Is that too much to ask?
So label me stupid, but the obvious differentiator between the Dems and the GOPers is that, if they are given control of Congress, the Dems will (or might) vigorously exercise their oversight of the shenanigans going on in the Executive branch. It's not enough to just pass a bill and pretend that BoyGeorge is going to DoTheRightThing. Even my 92-year-old Aunt wants to see this, and she's no pal of the Democrats, but she knows that something is horribly wrong.
The Democrat leadership is, again, lost in space. They can't see what obviously needs to be said. Forget about the economy... the other side has too many strong cards to play. And forget about protecting America from the terrrrrrrists... nobody will win that argument. Let's focus on something that's indisputable: oversight. Currently there's none, maybe, next year, we'll have some.
