This popped up on my
radar. It seems that Bush will be in Stockton and Placerville next Tuesday, the 3rd of October to do some fundraising for corrupt politicians
Richard Pombo and
John Doolittle:
Dear Anti-Pombo Activists.
Bush will be fundraising for Pombo and Doolittle on Tuesday October 3 in Stockton (breakfast) and El Dorado Hills (near Placerville - lunch). We are planning protest rallys at both events. If there was ever a great reason to take off from work, this is it. This will probably be the only opportunity to protest Bush in California before the election. Remind the voters of the ties between Bush, Pombo & Doolittle.
Please join us in showing Bush some Northern California hospitality.
Visit Stop Pombo for maps and a detailed plan. Pass this on to your email list please.
Here is a .pdf single page flyer promoting the protests, please print some and post them.

A little discussion on the flip...
They are probably hoping that he will swoop in, be able to raise some money and leave without getting noticed. You know how it is these days. They want the money, but they don't want to be caught in the same room with him.
Let's make sure they can't do that.
As kos said this morning in his diary about Webb:
On too many threads, someone says, "I don't see Democrats standing strong on Iraq". That's bullshit. There are plenty of Democrats doing so. They just need to get elected to do anything about it.
So help make that happen. Remember -- everyone here should commit to at least -- at least -- two hours of on-the-ground campaign work between now and election day. Better yet, commit to a full day. I'm going to head over the Berkeley Hills and help out Jerry McNerney for a day next month. I'll knock on doors or whatever is needed. Everyone should make that commitment.
Here is a chance to help make some good on that by bringing more attention and enthusiasm to their campaigns. Plus we get a chance to rag on Bush.
Jerry McNerney and
Charlie Brown have reached out to our community. They are running against (I am aware that this is redundant) corrupt Republican Congressmen in the
San Francisco Bay Area!
How often do we Bay Area liberals get such a good chance to make a statement and a difference for so little effort? Bush is coming to us. I say we grab him by the short and curlies. We need to be able to get a real presence together. But this will start EARLY on Tuesday. No doubt because they think that it will keep us away
Here is the plan for Pombo:
We will tentatively meet between 6:30AM & 7AM in King Plaza (between N Center St. & N El Dorado & between W Oak St. & W Fremont St.) which is across the street from the auditorium. The Bush-Pombo Breakfast doors open at 7AM with breakfast at 8AM. The plaza will be partially closed but the police plan for protesters to assemble there. In any case we can have a processional on the periphery of where we are allowed to be. Stockton police warned of an ordinance that does not allow signs with sticks, so please leave the sticks home.
And the Doolittle plan (under construction):
We will meet in parking lot of the Library which is in back of the visitor center. We don't know the time of the Bush-Doolittle Lunch yet so plan on getting to the parking lot by 11AM. I have spoken to the Placerville Sheriff. He does not know which roads will be blocked but told me he will get back to me when the info is available. Please bookmark this page and check for updates.
And as an aside, I am involved in opening an outreach/campaign office in Richmond, California. Richmond is 70%+ Democratic, but doesn't have the best turnout, especially in off year elections. This will be a pretty pure knocking on the doors / calling occasional voters and getting the vote out kind of operation. We are having our kickoff this Saturday the 30th at 10am to be followed by some door knocking. We could really use some butts to help out. Details will come. You can email me, if you want more information about this. We are setting up a website, www.westcountydemocrats.com, but at this point it just redirects to meetup. I am not sure that it will do much more than that this election cycle, unless somebody would like to volunteer their efforts in that regard. But we are planning this for the long haul. Part of the long term 50 state strategy will be to develop and encourage good progressive and liberal leaders. I think this will be a good part of it.
Whatever you do, find a way to get involved!
