Rudy gave a speech today that is being billed as a defense of Clinton in causing 9/11.

I don't think Giuliani came to Clinton's defense at all. I think he is simply trying to go back to the "gentlemen's aggreement" that seemed to exist before ABC aired that propaganda piece "The Path to 9/11". Prior to that piece, Democrats did not blame Bush, and Repugs did not blame Clinton. Each side had their reasons.
I think Democrats held off on blaming Bush out of gutlessness and fear. Repubs held off on blaming Clinton because they knew the facts were not in their favor. They knew Bush could hang on this one.
But someone blew it when that TV movie ran. And then Chris Wallace asked the wrong question of the wrong man at the wrong time.
This opened the floodgates and now the talking point writers had an emergency session and came up with a speech and sent it out to selective Repubicans to see what they could do to close those flood gates. "Hey, lets ask Rudy to do it". "Yeh, that's the ticket".
So Giuliani's speech is not about defending Clinton, it's all about a last ditch effort to protect the boy king who got the gold star that day for reading "My Pet Goat".
