Former Senator Max Cleland slammed the Bush administration yesterday on The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer. I always found it funny that when veterans speak up about the war in Iraq and offer the truth to what is actually happening to our soldiers,
some people try to paint them as misguided cowards. It's too bad that these folks are now the minorities of this country, as a growing number of Americans are finding
the truth. Max Cleland hit the nail on the head tonight with his remarks with why the people of this country feel the way they do.
The way this administration paints the picture, Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein were buddies. Of course, whenever the WMDs never turned up, that's what we were told to believe. Its time we drive their empty talking points down their throats. Cleland said it perfect on Tuesday, "Its' Al-Qaeda stupid". After all, who struck those towers on September the 11th? The Neo-Cons dropped the ball with the "War on Terror". They simply don't get the war on terror, the Vietnam Vet said. They choose to go into Iraq when the focus should have been on Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden. Karl Roves' boys must feel threatened by Max and others like Jack Murtha; because the only things they have to resort to are the
swift boaters they have come to rely on for 6 years.
This group, "Veterans for Truth", has made it their top priority to silence and dispose of Jack Murtha. Of course, it totally makes sense to attack you're fellow veteran brother because he speaks out. Senator Cleland and fellow veterans are making it their objective to stop this Republican slime machine. He made reference on Tuesday to the website
vetsformurtha.org and encouraged everybody who was interested in helping out to visit the site.
We, the progressive community, should do all we can to help out our man Jack. The swift boaters plan to hold their rally on Sunday, October 1st in Johnstown, PA. Supporters of Murtha, led by Max Cleland, will hold a rally for Jack on Saturday, September 30th in Johnstown. As an added bonus, we'll be able to protest the rally on Sunday. With men like Jack Murtha and Max Cleland leading us, we can end these disgusting tactics as well as bring our men and women home. Come to Johnstown, there's gonna' be a showdown!
