Everyone has been spending a lot of time lately trying to figure out how we could have been blind sided by Bin Laden on 9/11. Who to blame? What went wrong? Why didn't we know? It was Bush's fault! It was Clinton's fault!
It is all bullshit!
90% of the finger pointing is politically motivated. The only ones who really want to know and understand are those that think we might actually be able to do stuff to keep America safe from random acts of violence. I hope they are correct and succeed.
But the fact remains that if you dig through all the material available, and maybe even just think back to what you were doing, thinking, hearing and reading at the time, that it happened because the Bush administration let it happen. They needed a "a new Pearl Harbor" and by God they were going to use it to their advantage when it did happen. But that meant it had to happen. And so it did.
Did they do this on purpose? Mostly of those involved probably did not. But it would only take a few key players to "not" act at key times for this whole thing to come together.
[Before you ignore my theory completely, please take time to watch the videos linked below and read the white paper also linked to below - if you haven't already seen these.]
Horrific events tend to be the result of a myriad of factors that, when put into motion, lead to an inevitable end. 9/11 was really just such a case.
- Clinton had been unable to kill Bin Laden, although not for lack of trying.
- Wolfowitz and the boys (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Perle, et al) had a new agenda for America that required "a new Pearl Harbor" (page 63 of 90, 1st Paragraph)
- The Bush administration was so arrogant that if the Clinton administration said it, it was to be ignored totally. They were in charge now and things would be different.
- Bush had been "educated" (chapter 3, The Battle of Ideas - 1st minute) about how the world worked by the "hawks" and they knew what they were going to do, given the chance.
- There were too many bureaucrats worrying about themselves and their own agendas than about America.
Take all these facts, and then toss in some hubris. Now add some political agenda, and mix it up with absolute knowledge that "
Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S." and something bad is going to happen.
Call it what you will. What it boils down to is they let it happen because they needed such an event to start their Project For A New American Century.
The worst part is, I doubt this was a "conspiracy". At least not in the traditional sense. It was more a case of institutional will. They needed this event and without really doing anything they just let it happen.
Why do you think Bush sat in that classroom reading "My Pet Goat" for 7 more minutes after being informed of the second attack (he already knew about the first) on the World Trade Center? He had been expecting something. I'm sure even he didn't know exactly what. Had he really been caught unawares, he would have reacted like the every one of the rest of us in America on that morning and scrambled to get to a television, staring in total disbelief.
It happened on their watch. They had plenty of warnings. Even if they didn't know exactly what was planned (and I doubt that they did know), they could have been ready for something. Instead they were ready for nothing, and that is the most telling of all.
