Now that we seem to be winning the fight against ABC/Disney's wingnut propoganda film, we should look at how we can use the momentum from this fight to push back against the consolidation of corporate media. As has been noted any number of time on this site, having most of the information in this country controlled by a few multi-national corporations is a clear and present danger to our democracy.
Let's look at that chart again:
Media Reform Information Center
Many people on this site have advocated consistently challenging reporters and news organizations when they print erroneous information or out right lies. The wing nuts have used this strategy effectively to cow media organizations. But we need to do more. We need to hit their bottom line and make them hurt where it counts.
Even if ABC/Disney pulls the film, we should not let up the pressure. Let's go after their affiliate's broadcast licenses. The license is a public trust. They should not be able to refuse to air liberal view points and then try to toss off this wingnut propoganda as history.
Let's boycott Disney/ABC and all their affiliates until their CEO resigns. Let's go after their stock value. Let the other corporate media hacks know that they will pay dearly if they try to mess with our democracy so blantantly.
We should make this a campaign issue although I'm a little at loss on how to frame it. Rolling back the Communications Deform Act is hardly an attention getter.
Whatever we do, let's not stop here.
