I'm sure we can all remember the allegations of Arnold Schwarzenegger groping women and his history of misogyny and sexually harassing women in the run up to the 2003 special recall election in California. He apologized and stated that he "
behaved badly sometimes" and was still somehow elected Governor. His low opinion of women seems to have surfaced again in two related stories.
In addition to misogyny, this first incident also touches on some racist comments.
Governor apologizes for 'hot' Latina comments
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger apologized Friday to anyone "that feels offended" by his private comments theorizing that Latina Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia has a "very hot" temperament because of her ethnic roots.
In a taped conversation with aides obtained by the Los Angeles Times and released Thursday night, Schwarzenegger said he believed Garcia and other women with either Cuban or Puerto Rican roots have particularly strong personalities due to "part of the black blood in them and part of the Latino blood in them."
In this second case the Governor rejects attempts at strengthening gender equality in financial compensation. On average women still make nearly 25 percent less for the same work.
Governor sides with employers in four vetoes
Siding with employers, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Thursday vetoed bills that would have boosted penalties for violating gender-equity wage requirements and allowed locked-out workers to collect unemployment benefits.
Will Californians support this man to represent us again?
