My Senator did not vote on the Cornyn ammendment to censure MoveOn.org for it's "Betray Us" ad. I thought she should make it up to me, so I wrote her this letter (below the fold):
Senator Cantwell,
I canvassed for you during the last election and I have a small request to make. You were not present to vote against the Cornyn Ammendment censuring MoveOn.org for their ad in the New York Times criticizing General Petraeus for lying to Congress and the nation. I can only hope you would have voted against it had you voted. The favor that I ask is that you propose a measure to censure Rush Limbaugh for calling anti-Iraq-war members of the military "phony soldiers." Please take a look at this web site: http://armyofdude.blogspot.com/... and I think you'll agree that Limbaugh, who reaches about as many people, if not more, than an ad in the Times, is equally deserving of censure as is MoveOn.
Or, better still...propose a measure censuring the Senate for its censure. It may well violate the Constitution for Congress to attempt to stifle free speach in this manner. I frankly hope MoveOn sues the government so that no organization need fear the wrath of Congress for speaking its mind.
That's all. I just hope everyone lets their Senators know how they feel about this issue...especially the ones that didn't vote against Cornyn.
