CAMPBELL BELIEVES VETERANS "DO FRAUD"
Bush and Campbell prefer boardroom ethics instead the traditional American values of fairness, honesty, brotherly kindness, and compassion. For seven years, Bush and the Republican Congress sought to scare Americans for political ends. Campbell denigrates judges and lawyers who protect our rights and excuses his vote to cut veterans’ benefits "because veterans do fraud." Under the banner of "unburdening business" he undermines our democratic government "of the people" and rails against laws that give us clean drinking water, safe work places, and a retirement safety net.

Yes, that's right, John Campbell believes in limiting entitlements to those who have fought for his and our freedom should be cut because "Veterans do Fraud". This man must go.
Campbell was also one of only seven Representatives from California that voted no to renewing The Voting Rights Act and was also involved in stalling the vote.
Do you want to know more about our Rep? Just take a look at his Green Eyeshade Blog, it's enough to realize how much he hates "pork" and how Democrats want to waste your money!
I've noticed that there are diaries about local Congressional races and I wanted to add mine. Steve Young is running as the Democratic candidate in the 48th district in California. This district has been abandoned by the DNC as unwinable and permanently RED. Steve Young says that's not true and you know what? I think he can do it.
I spent most of the day yesterday involved in precinct training and I learned a great deal along the way. Orange County has a myth out there about the ratio of Republicans to Democrats. You ask any of the closested Dems and they will guess 5 to 1, Republicans to Democrats. It’s really not so, it’s more like 2 to 1. There are more Democrats in Orange County then you knew.
And if you scoff at the idea of someone being a closeted Democrat and why that might be beneficial to your career, I just have to point to the UCI Law School Dean, Erwin Chemerinsky. The UC Irvine Chancellor Michael Drake was under fire for UN-appointing Mr. Chemerinsky because of his political leanings, that being of a left leaning nature to be exact. So you tend to have a large number of Declined to State, as of late 2006 17% of those registered in our district are DTS. The DNC only pays attention to the ratio of Republicans to Democrats in our district which is too wide of a margin to even consider backing our candidate monetarily.
So there are a couple of very big things Democratic Candidates can do to try to win back their districts. Republicans have done this well, why can't we? One of our efforts will be to Register as many Democrats as possible to receive a permanent absentee ballot. Right now, Republicans have a larger turnout with these votes by as much as four to one. It has to change.
The other issue is to destroy the myth that Orange County is all Republican, especially south County, where the 48th district is (Campbell replaced Christopher Cox in 2005 when Cox went to run the Securities and Exchange Commission. I bet some of you know that Republican's name.)
Steve Young has a solid plan to get the votes he needs to beat John Campbell this time around. In 2006, Steve Young gained 12% points on the last Democrat to run in this district against a Republican. I think he can do it, but his campaign needs the support.
I have made it my personal mission to act as a precinct Captain in my neighborhood and to help this man get elected to Congress. For those of you Kossacks who live in the 48th district, I urge to you give your money and your time. We can make this a blue district again!

Some endorsements from his 2006 run for this seat.
I also want to make something clear, I don't only support Steve Young because he's running against a Republican, I think he's a great progressive candidate and will do a world of good for our district when we send him to Washington. Here are just some of his views on the issues from his website.
Education Tax Reform
When a corporate executive flies a private jet to meet with a client, the corporation deducts the cost on its tax return as a business expense. We allow businesses to deduct all manner of expenses, to encourage business. Yet parents cannot deduct the expense of taking a child to day care, nor investing in their children (and our country’s future) by paying for school or college tuition. That’s not right.
Parents who are trying to get the best education for their children in the context of their values and beliefs, who want quality child care, or who pay college expenses, view these costs as essential not discretionary.
Nevertheless, Bush and the Republican Congress told working America, "You are not acting responsibly if you want tax relief for your children’s educational expenses. Those expenses are your problem; you figure out how to make it work." Ask a working parent, they will tell you, day care expenses are an unavoidable cost of working.
We should not tax parents for educational expenses.
I want to make the tax code fair to working parents. We should enact a dollar for dollar deduction for middle-class parents who care for and invest in their children and our country’s future.
People-centered, not Insurance-centered Health Care
46 million Americans, including many of our middle-class working families, have no medical insurance. They are one major illness away from losing everything. This is wrong.
We each carry multiple policies of insurance that cover the same medical risks. Imagine the savings to each American and to our businesses if we did not have to pay for medical coverage in our home, auto, health, and liability insurance. Imagine what we could do if the multi-million dollar salaries and bonuses went into health care rather than insurance executives' pockets. Imagine reforming and simplifying Workers Compensation, and our litigation system. No longer will fender bender accidents, or workplace accidents result in litigation because health care will be, by definition, no-fault. No longer will health care be an issue in contract negotiations between unions and management. Imagine a health care delivery system like Medicare and the Veterans Administration.
If you can imagine this, you are beginning to see why our present health care system costs too much and does not work. Washington has favored insurance companies, drug manufacturers, lobbyists, and health care bureaucracies at the expense of the American people. We need to put people first and guarantee every American the right to affordable quality health care. I will:
1. Support a national health care plan.
2. Eliminate tax breaks for drug companies that raise their prices faster than Americans' incomes.
3. Guarantee a core benefits package that includes ambulatory physician care, inpatient hospital care, prescription drugs, basic mental health, and expanded prenatal, preventive, and long-term care. The package will be set by a health standards board made up of consumers, providers, business, labor and government.
4. Make health care a right, not a privilege, by giving employers and employees the right to buy private insurance or opt for a public package.
The Earth - Our Only Home
Wildlife enthusiasts, hikers, surfers, campers, hunters, and anglers' way of life depends on unpolluted, undrilled, undeveloped land, rivers and streams. This earth is our only home. We must protect the land of our forefathers, the air we breath, the water our children drink, the streams we fish, the game we hunt, the trails we climb with our children, the waves we surf, the gracious majesty of our landscape, and God's earth.
What is the threat? John Campbell scored a zero for his votes on conservation and the environment because in every vote he treated our earth's future like a liquidation sale -- siding with those who want to exploit our environment for profit rather than preserve the earth for all.
Preserving the earth's resources is a priority for me. Environmental cheaters have much to fear when I am elected. I support strict emission regulations and punishment to limits of the law for polluters. Washington must stop looking the other way because of corporate contributors and lobbyists, and start looking out for the earth's future.
With gas prices and oil imports rising, our nation’s security and prosperity require that we launch a concerted drive for energy independence. We must mobilize the scientific community, promote production of fuel efficient cars, invest in more efficient factories and appliances, and expand our development of alternative energy sources – like wind, solar, and bio-fuels. Conservation will make us more efficient, save money, clean our air and water, and keep our children healthy. Renewable, alternative fuels will dramatically reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, and release us from our marriage of convenience with Saudi Arabia.
Americans demand a culture of responsible energy consumption. With the help of alternative sources and responsible consumption, we can be wise stewards of the earth's resources while preserving the mountains high and our clear blue skies.
