So my wife and I are sitting here catching up on our soaps--because we're cheesy like that--and they cut in for a special report. Now, this,of course, only happens in times of emergency or when something truly extraordinary happens like when the Challenger exploded. Not this time, now it was OJ redux. Pictures of Jacko's Bronco rolling down the highway; pictures of his jet landing.
Now, my problem is--besides the fact they broke into GH for this sh*&--is that soldiers and civilians are dying every day. Now I know this is covered today at
Counterspin, but it's an important point considering that the White House is not allowing pictures of dead and severely injured soldiers--a fact that is, of course, severely unreported.
[NAIVE OPTIMISM]Why can't one reporter have the guts to break into programming and say "We interrupt this programming to bring exclusive coverage of the return of the 12 soldiers who recently died in the shooting down of the Chinook helicoter last week. Unfortunately, due to White House regulations, we are unable to provide pictures of the return, but we thought it important to pause and reflect in their honor. (silence)[/NAIVE]
