Folks, as some of you know, we at DraftObama.org just launched a new site this week, ObamaWasRight.com.
The purpose of the new site was certainly in part to give him props as the only one of the front runners to have opposed the Iraq war before it began. But it was primarily to look forward as well, and to help spur the conversation about Iraq and what we do now.
Well, we've frankly been pretty amazed by the buzz it's gotten so far, including an editorial in the LA Times today.
But the point here ain't just to crow about this, it's to reiterate that we really do want this to a place for discussion as well. Clearly, this has struck a chord with some folks, frankly more so than I'd anticipated. So if you are one of those people -- Obama supporter or not -- please feel free and invited to come by, speak your piece, and see if we can help move this debate forward.
LA Times excerpt below the fold, or go to the site, at ObamaWasRight.com.
Here's the key portion from the LA Times:
On Tuesday, as Obama was launching his 2008 exploratory committee, supporters of the freshman senator from Illinois were publicizing a website called obamawasright.com. Visitors to the site are reminded that Obama in 2002 called a war to topple Saddam Hussein "dumb" and "rash." Next to a picture of Clinton, who voted to authorize the war, is her statement in 2002 that "it is clear ... that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
