I just got back from our Northern Virginia Democratic Committee monthly meeting feeling pretty high off of our new Junior Senator Jim Webb's SOTU Democratic response (yes we had a party!) and it hits me. Here in Virginia (especially the Northern metropolitan area) we have worked really hard to bring Democratic candidates back into the state political structure to include the national pendulum. (Virgil Goode not with standing)
Ok back on point. In the last two years it has been Virginia Democratic recently elected leaders which have been the great rebuttal to the long lost thinking of the totalitarian Republican administration. These leaders were chosen to give hope to the electorate and to the future path of our nation
Yes - we were please to bring you in Governor Tim Kaine in 2006, and this year we are proud to bring you the second in our leaders Senator James Webb.
But my friends (because so many of you help make it happen) our work is not done. You see this year in 2007, (Virginia has elections every year - it really does wear me out) we are on the cusp of taken back the Virginia Senate.
Currently, we lack taking back the Virginia Senate majority by 4 Senate races. And as many of you activist know that small majority can have a tremendous impact on both the short and long term progressive agenda at both the state and national levelProgressive States . But this year (2007) is especially important. If we can win the 4 Senate seats in Virginia, those races will determine the redistricting outcome for the next decade.
So while many of you get to rest and sit out the year 2007, it is critical that we do not forget the races that are taking place this year in 3 states. In particular, Virginia. We here in Northern Virginia feel that we have a great opportunity to continue this trend, but we cannot do it alone, as we could not have done it without the net roots community in getting Senator James Webb elected (like that ring).
As the opportunity arise take time out to check out our races in Virginia (Raising Kaine ) and if you feel the need show some love to our candidates
