Going through the News this morning I stumbled upon this from the BBC
The UNHCR recently said more than 2.2m Iraqis had become internally displaced.
It estimates a further 2.2m have fled to neighbouring states, particularly Syria and Jordan, since the US-led invasion in 2003.
Syria and Jordan have a combined population of circa 27 million. This means that over 9% of their population are Iraqi refugees. Both of these countries are not exactly rich and to put this in perspective or even imagine what the strain is upon these little countries is almost impossible. However I will attempt to do so :
The combined forces of Russia and China invade Mexico because they've taken offense to Bullfighting so 30 million Mexicans hop over the fence and say to the Good ol' USA give us food and shelter...so I think The US would be a little pissed off with the Russians and Chinese.
The governors of up to 11 provinces - out of 18 in the country - had reacted to the crisis by blocking internal migrants from entering their territory, or denying them food and education if they do get in.
What a fucking mess. Where's that Peace and Democracy that the people of Iraq were promised ?
I know this diary is short and depressing but I think the subject should be addressed often until it sinks into the thick fucking skulls of the Pro War lobby.
