The rhetoric from all sides is driving me mad. And, I can't be the only one, no?
- We've got a fiasco in Iraq - too numerous of issues to list
- We've got Iran posturing for nuclear energy while BushCo is saying it's for nukes, too/instead
- Iran is also supposedly arming insurgents in Iraq against US forces and Sunnis
- We've got
the Soviet Union Russia seemingly reverting to the Cold War adversary
- UBL is still on the loose
- And, we've still got remnants of Hurricane Katrina, amongst other things, still unresolved
Some of these are intermingled - if our money & forces weren't tied up mostly in Iraq, would we have long-ago solved the Hurricane Katrina disaster areas?
So, over the fold is an outline. The details are not there and the order is not necessarily perfect. But, the outline might serve as a guide on how to get this worked out if, instead of finding the flaws in the outline, the experts found a way to make the outline a full-bodied plan that could possibly work.
I. Get Out of Iraq
a. Move forces to neighboring allied countries
b. Watch from a distance
c. Keep a Darfur-like situation from occurring
d. Keep pressure on Iran to butt-out
II. Give Iran Access to Thorium-Power
a. "Proliferation-resistant fuel cycle
(no production of nuclear weapons-usable materials in spent fuel)"
b. "Reduced nuclear waste"
c. "Improved industry operating economics"
d. Soviet Union Russia gets monetary gain from involvement with
Thorium Power
e. Reduce the rhetoric and fear-mongering around nuclear weapons
III. Get bin-Laden
a. Get that bastard!
b. Put him on trial
c. Have trial in The Hague (non-bias court)
IV. Bring Soldiers Home
a. Well deserved R&R
b. Get military involved in Hurricane Katrina cleanup/rebuild
c. Get military involved in Illegal Alien round-up
(Amnesty just lets
corporations off the hook)
V. Alternate Fuels Vision and Foreign Oil Costs Subsidy
a. Set a vision/goal for the US to get off foreign oil dependency by 2013
(think of JFK's vision to put a man on the moon - we need drive)
b. Fund R&D on alternate fuels
c. Corn not viable for alternate fuels as it raises food costs too much
d. Subsidize current gas prices for consumers (not recreational
vehicles, et al) while development of alternatives is being ironed
out
VI. Put Religion Back in Public Schools
a. Not prayer! Religion
b. Teach the premises of all religions
c. Discuss differences
d. Teach/Explain tolerance
VII. Set a Goal to be an Even-Handed World Member
a. Israel is not always right
b. We need to be a little more humble
c. Europe needs to step up/in sooner on certain issues
This outline is far from perfect. But, if our Congress were to work on something like this towards making certain, if not all, aspects of it work (as opposed to bickering over every damn item), progress ("the opposite of congress" -gallagher) might be realized.
