While Bush kills SCHIP and with it the insurance for millions of American children, Jimmy Carter announces in aninterview with GlobalX that he has eradicated Guinea worm disease, a horrible scourge that killed thousands of children every year in Africa. What a contrast. We have a young, sitting Republican President who can't be bothered to help American kids stay healthy, while a Democratic ex-president well into his 80's is still saving children around the world.
And it gets better, or worse depending on your point of view. GlobalX's recent interviews with Carter on human rights make the contrast even starker - Bush lies about torture while his Justice Department writes secret memos justifying it and the CIA and the Army does it, but Carter fights for human rights and against torture worldwide (see the same interview series at GlobalX for Carter's interivews).
