This one's quick and dirty because I have a number of other matters to attend to, but Roger Simon is reporting on the Politico website that a December date for the NH primary is a real possibility.
Simon writes: "Notice to all national political reporters, campaign operatives and presidential candidates: You may not be home for the holidays.
Until recently, I did not think that any state actually would hold its 2008 primary as early as this December.
But after two days of talking to officials in the early primary states, especially to New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner, I have been forced to change my mind." Full story here: http://www.politico.com/...
This is a potentially huge development in a most unsettled calendar, as Iowa state law requires its caucuses to be first. I would not want to be a campaign strategist trying to sort this one out this morning.
UPDATE: Apparently, John DiStaso is reporting much the same thing in the Union-Leader. Article is here: http://www.theunionleader.com/...
