For background, watch this reprehensible video from Dana "Junior League" Perino.
Her comments on SCHIP come at the end. To summarize, Dana says with smirking astonishment, that the vote was postponed for 2 weeks while MoveOn.org (the new liberal boogeyman) and the unions spent *$1.5 MILLION dollars* on ads to promote SCHIP and not one Republican was moved to change his vote- not one!
"That's the way the game is played and we won this round."
Dana, you guys won a vote. You lost the war.
That program was for children, millions of them all around the country. That vote will come back to haunt the Republicans because it is so blatantly political.
And it is not just political, but it comes at a cost to children all around the country whose parents can't afford to buyt hem health insurance.
With the applause in the House of Representatives after the vote, the Republicans declared victory over their perceived enemies- the Democrats. But that is going to play very differently in East Bumf%&^. Peopla are going to listen to that applause and see that the real enemy to the Republicans is themselves and their kids.
You've exposed yourself, the president and your party. All is made clear to America now in a way that was not so clear before. Your party is all about games. It's just a round of Risk to you.
It isn't about asthmatic children fighting for breath at night.
It isn't about newly laid off professionals who are looking at astronomical COBRA bills for their family and no salary.
It wasn't about the mother who need pre-natal care but whose company doesn't provide it.
It wasn't about a child who is blinded in her eye due to a devastating car accident.
It wasn't about a toddler with a hole in her heart.
It wasn't about the millions of Americans who send their precious tax dollars to be swallowed up in the oily sand of Iraq while they worry at night about what they are going to do if their kids get sick again.
It was about a tally sheet to Dana and her comrades.
Republicans 1, Democrats 0.
But the actual score is:
Republicans 1, Uninsured sick children 0.
Enjoy it while it lasts, Dana. The game is nearly over and the umps are just about to throw you out.
An apology to all of you who thought I had sunk to their level with the poll. I had, and for a fleeting moment, it felt good. But I'm over it now. I regret any distress I might have caused to blondes.
Unfortunately, I can't find the "remove poll" button so we're stuck with it.
