Next time, they should just leave a flaming bag of dogshit on his doorstep, ring the doorbell, and run...
Rush Limbaugh sold the letter to him signed by 41 Democratic Senators criticizing his "phony soldiers" comments on eBay for 2.1 million dollars (italics meant to convey pinky-to-corner-of-mouth gesture).
He's donating the money to a charity that he runs for the benefit of wounded soldiers, apparently. I can't get a sense yet of whether it's legit, or just a publicity/propaganda vehicle for him. He certainly seems to be getting some decent press out of this so far.
I hope the renewed publicity will serve to remind people of Rush's absurd and insulting and unbelievably chickenhawkish comment. And I think it would be fantastic if some of the wounded soldiers whom his charity is supposedly intended to help would refuse to take anything from him (much as candidates often return donations from questionable donors).
Has anybody heard anything about the identity of the buyer? It would be pretty sweet, I suppose, to have the original of that letter. Though right now my opinion of our Democratic Senators has left me somewhere between wanting to write them a critical letter, and wanting to leave a flaming bag of dogshit on each of their doorsteps.
