The Republicans have found a brilliant new way (in their sick minds) to "starve the beast", and they don't even have to cut more taxes.
It occurred to me today when I read about Murtha and Obey's plan for a new "war tax."
Republicans will surely support this, after all, they like to compare this war to WWII and we had a war tax then.
Plus, they are so adamantly supportive of this war, they are willing to sacrifice American lives for it.
But then I read that there ISN'T Republican support for the war tax. Then it occurred to me.
They've cut taxes about as much the responsible public will stand for, so "starving the beast" that way has essentially petered out.
Now they have found a new way to "starve the beast" by simply diverting money to the war instead of to tax cuts. And this way they can also:
- Keep Americans afraid and in their small minds, voting Republican
- Implement the Project for a New American Century strategy
- Inflate their defense contractor stock portfolios
